Swim & Dive Update 10/30

Hello!

Another great week for our swim/dive family! Wednesday we had our junior captain's speeches. The 2017 captains will be announced at our end of season banquet. I know, regardless of who is elected, the upcoming senior class is going to do a great job of working together, as I have seen that over the past three years.

A HUGE thank you to the Esterly family for opening up their beautiful home to host our annual pasta party! It was so special to see all of you have fun with one another outside of school and the pool.

On Thursday we had our last dual meet against Chaparral, who are the defending women's state champions. We put up a good fight! Many best times and seasonal best times were achieved!
The final scores: Girls 100-70 L, Boys 105-80 L

The AMDG Invitational meet was yesterday.  We had several swimmers achieve the provisional state qualifying times, as well as bettered their rankings for the state meet next week. The results are attached to this email.

To all of the athletes who are done for the season, congratulations! We are so proud of all the hard work you have put in the season to reach your goals! It is very rewarding, as a coach, to see how happy you are when you do so.

To those of you that have one more week left, I have submitted the "declarations" for the state championship, which close this evening at 6:00 pm. I should receive a preliminary psych sheet sometime tomorrow. I'm looking forward to announcing who will be representing Pinnacle High School at the AZ DI Swim & Dive State Championship Meet this week!

Reminders for the week:

1. Practice is from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday this week. It is optional for those swimmers who are not attending the state meet. There will still be a bus going to and from the school.

2. ALL swimmers attending the state meet are required to be at practice on Thursday. We will be going over important meet information for the weekend.

3. State athletes will be excused from class at 11:00 am on Friday. We will meet in our usual spot to eat lunch (bring a good, hearty lunch to fuel you for the afternoon!). The bus will be leaving school at 11:30 am on both Friday and Saturday.  Only if you are participating in the state meet will you be traveling with us to Skyline High School on Friday (prelims) and Saturday (finals). However, if you are interested in coming to cheer on your teammates on Saturday, the address is: 845 S Crismon Rd, Mesa, AZ 85208. The meet starts at 2:00 pm and there will be an entry fee of  $10 for adults and $5 for students w/ I.D.

Upcoming reminders:

Please remember to RSVP for the banquet on November 15th! Non-athlete payments can be made out to PHS swim & dive boosters and delivered to Mrs. LaPorte in the College & Career Center. Thank you!

Update 10/23 and Senior Scholarship

WOW! What a special week it has been for Pinnacle swim & dive!

Our senior meet on Thursday against Arcadia was so fun to watch and our pizza party was very memorable. We will miss our seniors but I know they have so many great things to look forward to in their future endeavors. Let's use these last few weeks of the season to cherish every moment with them! Many personal best and/or seasonal best times were achieved. That is a direct result of all the hard work you have put in throughout the season.
The final scores of the meet were: Boys 83-93 Arcadia and Girls 67-119 Arcadia.

THANK YOU to Tracy Francis, Alesha Hill, and Jacki Tatman who helped make this night so special by arranging the flowers, pizza, and senior posters.

In case anyone is interested in purchasing tech suits...

Hello Coach,

I hope your season is going well so far. I wanted to let you know about an exciting opportunity for your swimmers!

SPEEDO TECH SUIT INFORMATION:

East Valley Sports will be hosting an on deck "Speedo Tech suit fitting" with a "Speedo Tech Suit Specialist", on Saturday 10/1/16 from 8:30 AM -11:30 AM @ Kino Aquatic Complex.  Look for the Speedo and EVS tents on deck.  This is a great opportunity to get fitted and purchase/order a Speedo tech suit to ensure swimmers are not waiting until the last minute. It is also a great opportunity for them to learn about the technology, proper fit, and care from the Speedo rep to ensure swimmers are knowledgeable on the best suit for them.

Attached is the Speedo Tech Suit flyer showing the team discounts of 25-30% off the MSRP for purchases made on deck or in store.  Swimmers may order tech suits online and take advantage of the online coupon code, however due to MAPP pricing, the online pricing is not as great as the discount we can offer on deck or in store.

TYR & MP TECH SUIT INFORMATION:

The TYR & MP Tech Suit flyers are attached as well.  Try ons and product is available in store.  However, these brands tech suits will not be at this Speedo fitting event.
The TYR flyer shows discounts of 25 - 30% off the MSRP for purchases made in store, or if product is on deck, along with a closeout discount of 40% on Tracer Lights for in stock merchandise.
The MP Tech Suit flyer does not show the discounts we offer due to MAPP printing pricing policies by MP.   However, I can tell you that for the teams we service, we offer a 30% disc. in store, or if product is on deck.

GENERAL TECH SUIT INFORMATION:

Please be aware that EVS has a $15 tech suit try on fee per session, towards the purchase of a tech suit.  This information is stated on the flyer.

Female swimmers trying on high end tech suits:  We recommend bringing the person(s), that would be helping get the tech suit on at a meet.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Swim & Dive Update 9/25

Congratulations to all those who competed at the Brophy/Xavier Invitational this weekend! You should be very proud of yourself. Doing back to back invitational weekends is tough but there were many swimmers that swam personal bests or were very close! The boys team placed 10th and the girls team placed 9th overall. We have two more invitationals (toward the end of the season) and four more dual meets to prepare for. Keep up the great work!

Reminders for this week:

- Tuesday is a half day but a bus will leave school for practice at the normal time of 2:50 pm.

- Wednesday is our team picture day at the pool. It will start at 3:00 pm. Please wear your team suit! The following link will allow you to order in advance.
Since our team is so large, it may take a little longer to 1) organize our team picture and 2) get through all the individual pictures. So, PLEASE, make sure you are being respectful of the photographers instructions, so that we can get done in a timely fashion. It is more than likely that we will not get that much swimming/diving in, so if you are able to do another short workout afterward, that would be very beneficial to your training!

- Thursday is an away meet against Brophy & Xavier. The bus will be leaving at 2:30 pm after school. Please meet in our usual spot. Stay tuned on what to wear that day.
Location of meet: 4701 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
Start time: 4:00 pm

- NO practice on Monday, October 3rd

Upcoming reminders:

- During our fall break we will have practice on Wednesday, October 12th but there will be NO practice on October 13th and 14th.

- We only have 113 sunscreen bottles for the Cardboard City event on October 15th. Our goal is 2000!  Please send out emails/messages to friends, family, and neighbors asking if they would be willing to donate sunscreen for this great cause! I have a box in my classroom (C223) to put the donated items.

Have a great Sunday!

Coach Paige
