2014 Pinnacle Swim & Dive: June update

Hello Pinnacle Swim & Dive!

I hope you all are having a fantastic summer! I don’t know about you but it’s going by fast for me, but that is okay because that means it is one day closer to the start of high school swim & dive season! I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful program again; last year was extremely rewarding. Pinnacle swim and dive has a special family-like environment, which is why I love being a part of it. I have a few things to remind you of before we all meet up in August. I will be sending a few other emails as the summer comes to a close.

  • Just as we did last summer, we will be offering a few weeks of weights/dryland in the month of July. I will be unable to attend due to another job, but Jenny Knobbe will be running the workouts. It will be Monday-Thursday from 4-5 pm starting on July 14th and ending on the July 28th. This is not mandatory, however, it is highly recommended because it will help you get back in shape before the seasons starts, as well as a great opportunity to get to know your teammates!
  • There will be a parent meeting after the first week of practices to go over the season in detail, including things like important dates, parent volunteering, fees, etc. This date is tentatively, August 17th from 1-2:30 pm. I am working on reserving the school cafeteria.
  • Make sure you are in the process of completing the athletic packet, which includes your physical and other important personal/medical information. This can be found on Pinnacle’s website: Go to the home page à click on Athletics à and click on “athletic packet”. This needs to be completed by EVERYONE. Only freshman need to take the brain quiz (which is the link right below the packet). Make sure you print the results of the quiz and attached them to the rest of your packet. All athletic paperwork will be turned in at your walk-thru day. Athletes will not be able to get in the water until ALL paperwork is completed.
  • I cleaned up the email list this summer, so hopefully everyone gets this email! I will bring a copy of the list to the parent meeting so you can check and make sure I am using the correct email address. For all athletes, I will be using your pvlearners accounts (no more personal emails). This way I know everyone is getting emails and I can easily send personal emails, if needed. It will be good to get in the habit of checking a school account, since that is what you will do in college and the work force.
  • Lastly, it would be a very wise idea (if you haven’t already) to be doing some exercise on your own before we get back into the weight room and the pool in August. It would be awesome if everyone could be swimming everyday…If you need some workouts, I would be happy to email you some! If you are not able to get to a pool, I recommend running 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes. I know it’s hot outside but if you get up early before the sun comes up, it’s not too bad! There are TONS of resources on YouTube for various types of workouts that you can do at home. Let’s work hard as a team over the summer by coming prepared on August 12th ! Remember that the travel team is limited so set goals for yourself, starting now, if traveling is something that you would like to do.

I know that was a lot to take in, but hopefully I answered some questions along the way. I am really looking forward to the fall. It’s going to be a great season! If you have any questions this summer, don’t hesitate to contact me!
