8/28 Update

The camaraderie and energy that our team had this last week was contagious! It was so exciting to see so many of you encouraging each other throughout a set (being unafraid to do something new) or just having fun and being silly on deck. Part of being UNBREAKABLE means being true to yourself and not giving up your values, your morals, and your original personality. Even if a friend, classmate, or society tells you not to because it's the "thing to do." Being natural helps you to stay grounded and remain driven and humble in all areas of your life. In return, you get respect and that goes a long way. Everyone on Pinnacle swim & dive contributes something unique to our team and the coaches and I are so proud to be a part of such a special group!

"Success - the real success - does not depend upon the position you hold, but upon how you carry yourself in that position." - Theodore Roosevelt

A lot going on this week:

- Tuesday 8/30 is a half day, we DO have practice. We will still have a bus leaving from Pinnacle at 2:45 pm to go to the pool.

- Thursday 9/1 PRACTICE TIME CHANGE. There is a dual meet at the pool on this day, so we had to switch the practice time to 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. There will be NO bus. Please plan accordingly to be dropped off and picked up at the pool.

- Friday 9/2: 1st ANNUAL PINNACLE SWIM & DIVE ALUMNI MEET! There is NO practice at our usual time on this day. Our alumni event will begin at 6:30 pm and go until about 8 pm. We will have some fun and friendly competition with our past Pioneers! There will be pizza (for athletes and alumni only) to follow. Parents and families are welcome to come watch!

- NO practice on Monday, September 5th (Labor day)

See you tomorrow,

Coach Paige

8/21 Update

This week was a GREAT week for Pinnacle swim and dive. The coaches and I have already seen some great improvement in technique and endurance and it is only the second week! On Thursday, the swimmers worked on some butterfly drills for the first time and the coaches were very impressed on the focus and effort from all levels. You should be proud of yourself!

As our returning athletes know, last season we discussed a certain character qualities each week and asked you to apply it to your daily lives (i.e. at home, in the classroom, at work, with friends, and at the pool). We will be continuing that this year with our theme of being UNBREAKABLE. Stay tuned for more on character this week at practice!

Reminders for this week:
1) Tomorrow is the last day we are accepting any swim/dive apparel orders. Please turn in your form AND checks to Mrs. LaPorte in the College & Career center.

2) ALL fees are DUE this FRIDAY! Booster fees can also be turned into Mrs. LaPorte (checks payable to PHS swim & dive booster). The District Sports Fee can be paid on the webstore: https://webstores. activenetwork.com/school- software/pinnacle_high_school/   OR in the finance office at school.

3) I will be sending out a separate email sometime tomorrow in regards to parent volunteering. We already need to start planning our end of the year banquet and need some help!

4) Athletes: if you are going to the team t-shirt party on Sept. 3rd, please turn in $5 to your captains by Wednesday, August 31st.

Good evening!

A few reminders for the week:

1) Mandatory parent/athlete meeting THIS Tuesday at 5:30 pm in the auditorium. TRANSPORtATION

Dear Athletes and Parents,

This season we are happy to introduce a change from last year in regards to transportation to and from practice. Students now have two options: Option one is to take the bus from Pinnacle, boarding at 2:40 and returning to Pinnacle departing the pool at 4:50. Option two is to drive to practice by private auto. As the coaches are required to ride the bus, athletes are no longer to be picked up at the pool by parents. Hopefully, picking up your child at school is closer and easier. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

First Day of Practice - 2016

Hello!
Have you been watching the swimming events in Rio!? I have been watching every race since it started, I can't get enough!  The Olympics are such a fun and inspirational time when we get to cheer on team USA. But I'm ready to cheer on my favorite team!
We start practice on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at PV pool. We will have a bus leaving from Pinnacle around 2:40 pm. If you are taking the bus, we will meet in our "usual spot" the E building (just outside the small gym near the boy's PE locker rooms). The bus will pick us up in the bus lane.
Practice ends at 4:45 pm and we will be leaving the pool at 4:50 pm to get back to Pinnacle by 5 pm. That means if you would like to change, it must be quick!
All you need for the first day of practice is a practice suit, cap (if desired), goggles, and plenty of water (bring a big water bottle). Remember you need to have your physical/concussion quiz completed and turned in to be able to swim! I should have a list of people who are cleared thus far sometime tomorrow.
Our "fit kits" for the team suit are on their way, so you will be able to try on different sizes for our team suit this week. These suits are meant to be worn for meets only (so they last the whole season). I will be sending out the flyer within the next day or so.
Looking forward to a great season!
Coach Paige

Reminder about physicals

I am getting so excited to see all of you and start my favorite time of the year :)
Please remember to turn in your physicals to the athletic office (E building) before school starts! If you are are in the student parking lot and looking at the doors that go into the gym, the office will be through those doors and on your left (in front of the weight room). If no one is there, you can drop them off at the front office for the athletic director, Jay Thomas.
If you are a freshman or a newcomer to Pinnacle, you need to take the brain concussion course/quiz, as well. The link for that is on the same webpage as the physical paperwork. You will need to print a copy of your certificate when completed and attach it to your physical.
Thank you!
Coach Paige
