Weekly Update

Hi Everyone,
The dive team had a great time on Friday for the dive portion of the Brophy Invite.  They also braved the heat, but had a good time.  Thank you divers for all of your hard work and your representing Pinnacle.   You are an integral part of this  team.
The team had a great showing  Saturday at the Brophy Invite with some absolutely  fantastic swims by our team and others alike.  It was a long, hot day, but the kids came through it admirably.  Next year we will move the tents towards the grass under the trees to allow for more comfortable arrangements.  The grass may end up being wet, so extra blankets and towels will be necessary, but it is better than the hot cool decking radiating heat.  Congratulations team for the great Combined win.
Also thank you to all the parents who supplied the kids with food and water for the meet.  We really appreciate it.
A little housekeeping note:  When we are at meets in general, it is important that we show respect for the location we are visiting as well as the other members of the team and support staff.  Please take care to clean up after yourselves.  There was a huge mess to be cleaned up Saturday that everyone should have participated in, but only a few were left to take care of.  We must all participate to help the team.  Thank you for taking measures to create a better environment for everyone.
MEET THIS WEEK - THURSDAY
VS. CHAPPARAL @ CACTUS PARK

7202 E. Cactus Rd
Scottsdale, AZ 85260

This is a dual meet (Millenium has declined to participate in this meet), with Chapparal only.
****Message from the LaPortes:  The Pinnacle Swim & Dive car decals have been found.  If you attend the meet on Thursday, the decals will be passed out for FREE!!  Be sure to be there to receive one.****

CAR WASH UPDATE
Thank you to those of you who have already responded to sign up for the car washes.  We are having a change of plans.  Coach Mike has informed us that he will be able to swim the whole team at the Last Chance Meet on the 30th.  We have cancelled the 9th and 30th and changed the date of the car washes to:
When: October 16 – SATURDAY
Where:  Taco Bell @ Beardsley & Cave Creek by the Costco
Time:  9:30a to set up – 2ish depending on flow of business
Volunteer Time Slots:
9:30 – 11:45a
11:45– 2:00p

There is no swim event that day, so there should be fewer conflicts for people.  Please respond asap to volunteer.  Everyone should be able to help out in some way.
PRESELL CAR WASH TICKETS

THANK YOU to Mrs. Beaman who is making coupons for the car wash for each swimmer/diver to presell enabling the purchaser to turn in their coupon for a car wash on 16th.     The coupons are $5 each and we are asking each swimmer / diver to sell 5 coupons.  As always, this is not Mandatory.   The coupons will be available at the meet Thursday for pick up.
I have received several emails regarding the fundraising and what it is used for.  We haven’t denoted anything specific for this fundraiser unlike Jamba Juice.  Jamba was specifically for the kids to be able to get new team sweats this year without parents being asked to spend more money.  However, there are many expenses the team incurs throughout the season that is not covered by our booster fees.  We have accounts to take care of these expenses, but those accounts cannot be left depleted at the end of the season.  It is necessary to replenish the accounts to ensure the future success of the team and our ability to meet the needs of the team without asking parents to incur more costs.  If you have any more questions regarding the finances of the team, our Treasurer – Todd LaPorte laportefamily@cox.net will be able to further answer your questions.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter.
                BAKED GOODS
We are asking each family to donate one dozen cookies, cupcakes or whatever you would like to these carwashes.  We plan on selling them at the car wash for additional monies along with water.   The only stipulation is that the goods be Halloween related since it is the month of October.  Please let me know who will be bringing a baked good.  We will also supply candy for the kids that come with the adults to do a early trick-or-treating.
                OUR GOAL
Our goal is to raise between $750 and $1000.  It should take a minimal amount of effort and time to make this happen.  A couple of ideas to help get more people to these car washes:
                     Sell more than 5 coupon
Send an email to everyone you know letting them know of the car wash date.
Let all of your neighbors know about the date.
Mention it at your places of work.
If there is a message board a flier could be placed at, please do so.
Tell people at your church or other activities.
Candy is a draw for kids, so be sure to mention the early trick-or-treating.
I’m sure there are more ideas, but I’m out for now.
WE NEED THE FOLLOWING:  LET US KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING PLEASE.

                Rags
Towels / Chamois – great for reusing without waiting to dry out continuously
                Tents – We will bring
                Hose – We will bring
                Buckets – 8
                Sunscreen – Bring your own

Weekly Update

This week’s activities are as follows:
WEEKLY SWIM MEET – There is no scheduled weekly swim meet this week.
MANDATORY PRACTICE -  Despite no swim meet, there is still a mandatory swim practice this Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 6:30-8:00p.  You will receive information regarding the Brophy Invite at this meet.

Amy Janetsky will have a basket available for anyone who would like to drop off their "Boots and Heels" spa/beauty basket donations.
BROPHY INVITE – This takes place this Saturday, September, 25.  The bus departs from PHS at 6:30am.  Be sure to be there by 6:20p.  You may leave at the END of the meet with your parent(s), but your parents need to personally speak to one of the coaches at the meet to tell us you are riding home with them, so that we are legally released from liability, (But it must be your parent(s), it CANNOT be not someone else’s).
If your parents are not taking you home, you will ride the bus back to Pinnacle.
We will provide some water, but YOU need to make sure to bring some extra food and water to the meet.  We used to provide lunch and are no longer doing this as participation was very spotted and confusing.  It will be a hot, long day.  Food, water and sunscreen are essentials.
If parents are planning on attending, spectators are $3 each and programs are $3 each.  The meet will begin at 9a, so if you don’t want to be there at 7a, you’ve got a couple of hours.

WATER / SNACKS FOR MEETS
My husband and myself bring the tents and waters to each meet ourselves.  Due to our younger child getting out at 3p, we aren’t able to be at each meet right away.  It is IMPERATIVE that the swimmers / divers are taking care of their bodies by packing additional snacks and waters to satisfy them until we are able to get to the meets with the additional waters.  These items can’t ride on the bus as there is no space for it.  Please stress the importance of your children taking care of themselves.
Thanks Everyone!  If I have missed anything, be sure to send it to me and I will update the team!
