June Update

Hello everyone!

I hope your summer has gotten off to a great start! I went up to Greer for a few days last week and the high was in the mid 60's, with thunderstorms. Quite a difference from the blazing triple digits.
I have a few notes for you to start off your summer:

1) Remember to complete your physicals! Incoming freshman/new athletes need to complete the concussion quiz as well. Here is the link for the paperwork:
http://www.pvschools.net/Page/3184. This is the only thing that needs to be done AND turned in to the Pinnacle athletic office by the first day of school. Fees, meet schedule, etc. will be discussed with the first week of the season.

2) Bus transportation from school will be provided to practice from Pinnacle for those that need it. We will leave school around 2:30 every day to arrive and be ready to get in the pool by 3.  There will be a bus that goes back to school right after practice (no lollygagging).

3) I am really excited about this next note!  One of the goals the coaches and myself have for our team this year is to be more involved with the community service and outreach. Next season we will be partnering with an event called Cardboard City to  "raise awareness & funds for the growing number of homeless families in our community." Part of the event includes collecting hygiene items to make kits for the homeless. This is where we come in!

I have arranged for Pinnacle Swim & Dive to be in charge of collecting SUNSCREEN donations for these kits (I thought it was fitting). On they day of the event they will be building 2000 kits, which means we need to collect 2000 sunscreens!! We will accept all shapes and sizes, the small travel size bottles, sunscreen sticks, etc. So start setting aside any extra bottles you might have lying around and and start spreading the word to your friends, families, and neighbors! Once the season starts, we will have donation boxes to put around school so that it becomes a school wide participation/awareness!

Cardboard City will be an overnight event held at Scottsdale Stadium on October 15th &16th (more information at http://familypromiseaz.org/events/cardboard-city-2016/). Volunteering in the event is optional, however, I would love to see if we could get a group of swimmers, divers, and any other students to represent Pinnacle (as long as there is not an invitational that day).
Please let me know if you have questions about this!

4) Lastly, to my swimmers and divers, make sure you are training! I know it's hot, but make sure you're staying active by swimming, weight training, running, biking, etc. It is amazing what a couple months of "getting back in shape" will to do to help your results this fall!

Enjoy your summer!
