How to excuse a swimmer from taking the bus home from a meet

I have received questions regarding the process of notifying the school about excusing a swimmer/diver from taking the team bus home from a meet.  The following is the procedure:

You must email Rich Amanati, the Athletic Director, at ramanati@pvschools.net the following information:
Swimmer or Diver’s name
Date of the meet
The parent who will be taking him/her home

The information MUST be received no later than the day before the meet. The sooner the better.  Mr. Amanati  will share the info. with Coach Lamell who will then be authorized to release the swimmer/diver after the meet to the parent listed in the notification email.

UPDATE FROM WENDY

Jamba Juice Fundraiser

Almost half of all swimmers and divers have picked up some jamba juice tickets to sell.  Way to go!

I have gotten a question regarding checks.  We would like CASH only.  If your customer doesn’t have cash, it is up to you to work something out with them.  Please turn in cash only.

If you haven’t been able to pick any up yet, I will be at the Mandatory practice this Tuesday from 6p – 8p.

Club Swimmers

Attention all club swimmers:  All Club Swimmer Sheets are due this TUESDAY.  They can be picked up in Coach Lamell’s room or at the pool.

1st Swim Meet

Wednesday is our first swim meet against Goldwater and  Willow Canyon.  We will be swimming at Glendale Community College.    The buses will pick up at 2:15p and the meet will begin at 4p.

Any parents planning on attending, this is a reminder that the DV school district is now charging for their swim meets.  We don’t know exactly how much it will be, so bring some cash.

Meet Donations

If you have any water, snacks, etc that you are donating for this first meet, please bring it to the Tuesday Mandatory swim practice.  I will be there collecting those items from 6p to 8p.  I must leave right at 8p so please be sure to get there sooner or send your items with your swimmer.

Sadly, the divers will not be attending this meet since there is no dive pool available.  We will miss you.

Email Distribution

I believe we finally have everyone accounted for.  If there are any changes, please be sure to send them to me asap.

I have found out the hard way that my email sending is limited to 300 recipients per day.  Obviously, 1 distribution email eats up a lot of that.  I will only be able to send out 1 per day to allow for any other emails that must be taken care of since this is also my work email.  If there is anything you have a question on, or would like addressed in the next email, be sure to get it to me the night before and I will include it in the next day’s email blast.  Thank you for your understanding.

Let’s have a great week!

FUNDRAISING - JAMBA JUICE

We are excited about our first Fundraiser of the season – Jamba Juice. Who doesn’t LOVE Jamba Juice? The team would like to have the opportunity to earn team sweats. This is their solution.

Jamba is LOANING us the gift cards to sell. Whatever we don’t sell, we MUST return or we are responsible financially for them. I’m just putting that out there in advance so we all know to take very good care of the cards. If you take cards you don’t sell and don’t turn them back in, you personally will be responsible for paying for them. You can always come back for more.

This is how it works:

We get $10 Jamba Juice gift cards to sell at face value for CASH. The customer receives $10 of product when they redeem the gift card at one of the 18 participating locations. We receive 50% profit. For every card we sell, we earn $5.00.

You are each individually earning your team sweats. It is up to you if you want a sweatshirt, sweatpants or both.

What do you want?

Team Sweatshirt = $20 = sell 5 gift cards (must add in for tax)

Team Sweatpant = $20 = sell 5 gift cards

Both = $40 = sell 10 gift cards

What if I sell more than the 10 gift cards?

Awesome! The next time the team wants to purchase anything personal or do anything special, those monies will come into play.

Who do I get my cards from?

Swimmers will have a chance to pick up cards at August 27th, Friday’s high school practice at PV Pool from Mr. Reinstein, our fundraising chair until 6:45pm. You will sign out the cards you have taken to sell. When you have sold them, be sure to turn your money into Mr. Reinstein to be able to account for your sales. You can then pick up more cards if you need to.

Divers will have a chance to pick up the cards the same day after their dive practice at 6p until 6:45p.

How long is the fundraiser?

The fundraiser begins Friday, August 27 until Friday, September 10th. That is 2 weeks encompassing 2 weekends to get those cards sold. The remaining monies and gift cards MUST be turned in that Friday, September 10th at PHS swim practice.

What if I have a question regarding the fundraiser?

Please contact your fundraising chair Ken Reinstein at 480-510-9762 or ken@blue22pr.com or myself wendyq@q.com 623-326-8223 only. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

AGAIN, I must reiterate, please take very good care of the gift cards so that if there are any leftover, they are in great shape to turn back into Jamba Juice.

Alright everyone, go get em!

UPDATE FROM WENDY

Hi Everyone,

The captains have decided to make t-shirts for the team this Friday to be ready for our first meet next Wednesday.

THIS IS OPTIONAL!!!    If you are interested in one of these t-shirts, please bring $5 to Coach Lamell’s room F127 or give it to a captain by this Friday.  Be sure to have something with your money identifying it’s yours.

Also, our first fundraiser is almost underway.  It is selling Jamba Juice cards $10 each and we keep 50%!!!  That’s a great return!  The kids want to buy sweats, so they are taking the initiative to fundraise the money – so Mom and Dad, you’re off the hook ;-)!    Look for more details in upcoming emails.

Reminder:  if you have any water / ice donations, please bring them to the Mandatory practice next Tuesday and I will pick them up from you.  If you would like to be reimbursed, please let me know.

FYI – NEW INFORMATION – We have recently learned that Deer Valley Dist has begun charging for entry to their swim meets.  Our first meet of the season is next Wed. September 1 against Goldwater at Glendale Community College.  We are not aware of the cost to enter, so be prepared with extra cash when you arrive.  If we get a specific fee amount, we will be sure to update you.

This pool doesn’t provide any shade or seating.  We have 1 team tent and we will bring our tent.  If anyone has a tent they would like to bring, GREAT!  The more shade the better.  If you would like to sit, be sure to bring chairs.  The weather has been very unpredictable lately.

Our committees are hard at work already planning.  Thank you for your contribution everyone!  We couldn’t do it all without you!

Any questions, please let me know.

Thank you!!
