Required by 10/1 - AIA Mandated
AIA NEEDS YOU TO COMPLETE
We have spoke to several of you, and we want to clarify, this is NOT the same thing as the concussion paper you turned in with your original district paperwork. This is an AIA requirement, NOT just Paradise Valley Unified School District requirement. An athlete may become ineligible to play ANY sports if this is not completed by the deadline. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS ASAP. You will need to complete a quick registration and plan on the whole thing taking roughly 40-50 minutes.
MANDATORY – FULL TEAM PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED!!! (Even if you are a returning swimmer – so this means every swimmer and diver.)
Below is the link to the AIA mandated student concussion education program called Brainbook. All fall athletes must take this course before Oct. 1st. They need to print out the completion certificate and turn in to Ms. Roman. They only need to do this course 1 time for their HS career. If the link is not working, it can be found on aiaonline.org under the AIA academy link at the top. Please take it seriously because you do have to finish a test at the end of the course.

Questions?
Where does the cash for incentives come from?!?!
Jamba will donate 3% of your entire sale in cash incentives.
In order to make this a successful fundraiser and show YOUR support for you organization, Jamba asks that you match our contribution of 3%, allowing for 6% of your sale to be directed toward cash incentives.
For example – If your organization runs a $5,000 sale. Jamba will donate $150.00 for incentives, and your organization will match Jamba for a total of $300.00 in cash giveaways.
If your sale is not as successful as planned, we will eliminate certain incentives.
**Incentives do not have to be cash – this is open to discuss. It could be t-shirts, gym bags, etc. However, the maximum contribution from Jamba will be 3%.

NOT RIDING THE BUS HOME FROM THE MEET?
If your child will not be riding the bus home from the meet on Thursday, a parent needs to email the Athletic Director’s office: cnewland@pvlearners.net by Wednesday 2p. They did say that if you don’t get that info in by then, they may be able to work something out, but they may not. If you don’t want to take the chance, be sure to get that email in excusing your child on time.

FOR NEW SWIMMERS / DIVERS – meet at PHS to catch the bus. The coaches can specify where on campus you need to be, so ask them tomorrow at the Mandatory meeting. Parents – if you want to attend the meet, you will need to drive. The map links are on the calendar that was provided at the team meeting. I have attached an updated calendar with this email.
The Athletic Director is working on providing adequate transportation for the entire team as our team has potentially grown larger than what 1 bus can handle. That being said, he has confirmed that it is acceptable if you as a PARENT want to drive your child TO and FROM a meet, you can opt to do that- BUT – you must send him and email stating what you are doing. NO KIDS ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE TO AND FROM A MEET PER LIABILITY ISSUES. If you decide to do this during the season, please follow these guidelines:
Send an email to Corey Newland the Athletic Director to: cnewland@pvlearners.net by Wednesday before a meet by 2p. You must also CC the coaches on this email so they are aware your child will not be on the bus. Their emails are as follows:
Coach Josh coachjosh.tayrien@gmail.com
Coach Laura spinnme38@yahoo.com
Coach Kelly gr8teacher@cox.net
FINALLY:
$200 District Fee Payments are ready to be accepted. Unfortunately, the online process is not up and running. Payment will need to be in the form of a check made out to Pinnacle High School and brought to the Athletic Director’s office and given to Louise Gilbert the AD Secretary by September 7. Be sure to note your child and swim / dive in the memo line.
Remember to turn this in with the tax credit form
Suits are in – to be distributed at Mandatory practice.
Caps – still awaiting delivery.
T-shirts are delayed a little and will be in around Sept. 8th. We will let you know when they come in.
Thank you and have a great week!

Welcome Back to PHS Swim & Dive Team 2011-2012
Welcome Back to PHS Swim & Dive Team 2011-2012
I hope your summers were restful and eventful, but it’s that time of year again. Are you ready? Let’s go!
COACHING STAFF CHANGES
We have been very fortunate to have great coaching, but as all things do, the coaching staff is changing this year. Here is the announcement regarding our Head Coach we received through club swim:
When Mike took over the Senior Program at Swim Neptune it was little more than a high school group without any Sectional level qualifiers. In three and a half years Mike grew the team to include 16 Sectional qualifiers this past season. He helped to create a foundation of excellence within Swim Neptune for our older swimmers to reach the highest levels of our sport. Coach Joe Johnson has been working closely with Coach Mike over the past season and knows all the kids in the group very well. We anticipate a very smooth transition as Joe Johnson takes over the Senior Group at the JCC.
Mike has been an incredible coach and addition to PHS. We are all very sad to see him go. Best wishes to you Mike!!!! We Love You!
Pinnacle has also hired a new Athletic Director who has been great to talk with so far and very responsive. As of now, we currently have a teacher representative who happens to be the parent of one of our incoming freshman this year, Mrs. Kelly Roman. We are excited to have her as a new addition to the team. She is eager to get moving and set the wheels in motion. Welcome Mrs. Roman!
There are currently postings for the Head Coach and Assistant Coach. Due to changes in coaching staff, practice times are TBA. As soon as we know, we will let you know as well as the day to begin practices and where.
ANNUAL TEAM MEETING - POTLUCK
We are requiring that the swimmers/divers participate in this meeting this year in addition to the parents. We have felt the kids have not been as connected with the inner workings of the team as would be beneficial, so this is a great opportunity to create community prior to the start of meets etc.

Where: Aviano Community Center – Banquet Room - 3935 E. Rough Rider Road ( From Desert Ridge: Deer Valley Rd west to Aviano Way – head north to round-about. )
